Whatsapp on PC

Link :: https://web.whatsapp.com/
(Open in Chrome Browser only)

With over 700 million activated accounts, WhatsApp is undoubtedly the king of mobile social messengers. Not only is it extremely popular, but this Facebook owned application is one of the best when it comes to efficiency and ease of use. Though pretty much perfect, I bet we have all been jonesing  to use it on our computers!, Iit’s quite understandable – a much bigger screen, a physical keyboard, multi-tasking abilities; it’s  dreamlike. And guess what? With it’s latest update WhatsApp actually did it! With WhatsApp Web you can access all your chats, media & contacts at the comfort of your browser. What? Where? How? – we’ll tell ya!

Now the concept of using WhatsApp on a computer is not novel. There are tons of softwares, browser extensions and app-emulators which allow you to do the same. But WhatsApp Web is simply more convenient and efficient. A point to remember though – it’s NOT a WhatsApp alternative,  you must have WhatsApp installed on your phone! Basically, WhatsApp Web is an extension of your existing WhatsApp messenger. It allows you to send messages (text & voice) and media (images & videos) just like the mobile app.

There’s no setup or installation. Simply open WhatsApp (latest version) on your phone, tap the menu button (top right) and select WhatsApp Web, a QR code scanner will appear, post an instructional pop-up message. Next, head to web.whatsapp.com on your computer (using Chrome browser) and scan the QR code on the left. Done! Your browser will now mirror your phone’s WhatsApp application allowing you to use all the functionality with much ease!

The feature however, comes with it’s own limitations. Firstly, it can only be used with Google Chrome, which shouldn’t pinch, considering almost everyone has it installed (right?). Secondly, though it can be used from Chrome on  most operating systems – Windows, Android, Mac (OS X); it can’t be accessed on iOS. But the biggest limitation is its dependability on your phone’s WhatsApp.   Since it’s a mirror interface, the messages are basically sent & received by your phone therefore, both your phone and your computer must to be connected to the internet. Also, for essential features like changing status & display picture, creating & leaving groups and blocking contacts, you will have to use the mobile application.

Despite its shortcomings, WhatsApp Web completely changes the way we use WhatsApp – trust me, typing on a full-fledged keyboard feels divine!   Moreover it is an excellent way to share media with your peers. Say you want to share pictures from your camera among your friends on WhatsApp. Instead of transferring them to your computer and then on your phone, you can simply send them from the PC itself!
WhatsApp Web is a revolutionary enhancement which every WhatsApp user is sure to like. Though far from perfect, it’s definitely a  great first step towards its integration with our different devices.

For example, one candidate Abhishek (roll number- 911100264), who did not even appear for the examination was selected. Similarly, four other candidates were also appointed on basis on the same grounds.

‘There have been irregularities in appointments. The concerned ministry should look into this and set up a committee and probe the matter,’ said Rajiv Prashar, who filed the RTI application. According to the RTI, Babita Sharma, Ravinder Sish, Chetan Vats and Suman were there in final list of candidates selected for Junior Assistant’s post.  But there were no records of their written examination marks.

Meanwhile, the non-teaching staff of DU have decided to protest against the authorities. ‘We will protest against such corrupt culture within the university. We will approach UGC and Human Resource Development ministry to thoroughly probe the case’, said Raj Kumar Paswan, who is a member of non-teaching staff at DU.

The Delhi University has also set up committee to look in the issue. ‘We have set up a one man inquiry committee to probe the matter. The committee will soon submit its report to Vice Chancellor Dinesh Singh,’ said Malay Neerav, Delhi University’s media coordinator and Joint Dean of Students’ Welfare.

Delhi elections 2015: Kiran Bedi to make better chief minister than Arvind Kejriwal, says AAP patron Shanti Bhushan

http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/delhi-elections-2015-kiran-bedi-to-make-better-chief-minister-than-arvind-kejriwal-says-aap-patron-shanti-bhushan/articleshow/45985690.cms

NEW DELHI: AAP has played down the statements made by its patron Shanti Bhushan on Thursday, a day after he came out in support of Kiran Bedi's elevation as the chief ministerial candidate of BJP.

All AAP leaders, including his son Prashant Bhushan, clarified that the party did not share Shanti Bhushan's view and maintained that Bedi's decision to join BJP was "opportunistic".

Unfazed by the dismissal of his remarks, Bhushan, on Thursday, went ahead and called for a "reorientation" within AAP saying all was not well in the party and it was not being run following its founding principles. He told news channels that the AAP chief had failed the party on candidate selection for Delhi polls and that Bedi would make a better CM than Kejriwal. He also said that Kejriwal should be replaced with a new leader.

ET was the first to report Bhushan's comments on Bedi's induction into BJP. "It's a masterstroke by the BJP to pitch her as a candidate because she has been a crusader against corruption just as Arvind (Kejriwal) has," the former union law minister had told ET in an interview on Tuesday. He said that Bedi, as the CM, would provide an honest government to Delhi.

Asked about Bhushan's praise for her, BJP's CM candidate simply thanked him and refused to comment further. Party Chief Arvind Kejriwal said: "It's a democracy and everybody has a right to express his feelings." Prashant Bhushan, on the other hand, distanced himself from his father's remarks and called Bedi opportunistic. "She did not want to enter politics at the time we decided to form a party. So why join BJP now?" he asked.

"This is Shantiji's personal view. I can't understand how Shantiji can possibly approve of Bedi joining a party that he calls communal even today. I do not agree with his assessment and the timing of his assessment. I don't think even Prashantji would agree with it," said AAP leader Yogendra Yadav.
